Our pet pug Pudgy's health had deteriorated suddenly and rapidly over two days. We took him in to check on his heart, but it all looked normal. The next day, he suffered a really bad seizure that no one saw coming, and was barely clinging to life, so we rushed him back there to euthanize him; he was too far-gone by that point. They took him immediately and moved us to a private area while they prepped the room where he would be put to sleep. (They had just euthanized another dog before we arrived, so I imagine they had to clean, restock tissues, etc.) When we moved to the room and they brought in Pudgy, they were very compassionate and gave us as much private time as we needed both before and after he was put to sleep. It was a very peaceful setting, with Pudgy wrapped in a nice blanket and surrounded by his family. I never did get a chance to thank the doctor who administered the drug--Dr. Petrucci, I believe--so on behalf of my family, I'd like to thank her and everyone else who quickly and painlessly ended his suffering, because he was suffering heavily during those last two days. It's been a tough adjustment to life without him, but we're coming to terms with it. I hope you folks are staying strong, because euthanizing two dogs back to back is certainly a job I don't envy. Again, thank you for making Pudgy's end a peaceful one; it means so much to us. R.I.P Pudgy (04/25/06 - 02/04/23)
